🚧 Colfax Construction: A Tough Level for Local Businesses 🎮

If you’ve cruised down Colfax lately, you’ve seen it — the orange cones, blocked corners, and confusing detours. What used to be one of Denver’s most vibrant stretches for nightlife, live music, and weekend adventures now feels more like a construction zone level straight out of a retro video game.

For us at The 1up Arcade Bar – Colfax, the impact has been real. Foot traffic has dropped dramatically since the project began. Where people once walked up and down Colfax heading to concerts, bar hopping, or just taking in the scenery, they’re now dodging heavy machinery and walking inches away from moving cars. The temporary footpaths and closed corners make even a short stroll a challenge.

Vendor deliveries have also gotten trickier. We’re lucky enough to have our own private parking lot, but many neighboring businesses don’t — forcing delivery trucks to park in the street, causing traffic jams and frustrated commuters.

Sidewalks have been replaced with temporary “bridges” leading over the construction to business doors, which makes many shops and bars look closed from the road. Add in the maze of cones, narrow lanes, and sudden traffic shifts, and even driving down Colfax can feel risky.

But through all the noise, dust, and detours, the heart of Colfax is still beating strong. The local businesses up and down this street are tough, creative, and full of grit — and we’re all determined to make it through this.

So while construction may have changed the route, it hasn’t changed the spirit. Stop by, grab a drink, play a few rounds, and show some love to the local spots that make Colfax what it is. Together, we’ll get through this level — and come out stronger (and maybe with a few extra lives). 🕹️💪
